Living Room Remodel with Structural Wall Opening

Cherry Hill, NJ

A Divided Floor Plan Opens Up

We opened a structural wall in this Cherry Hill living room, carried the load on a new beam and posts, and finished the opening with lit wood slats.

The Transformation

A structural wall divided this Cherry Hill home and closed the living room off from the rest of the floor. The owners wanted the rooms to feel connected without losing a sense of separation.

Because the wall was carrying load, it needed to be opened properly. We framed the opening, set new posts and a beam, and then closed everything in. A column of wood slats with built-in lighting now marks the opening.

We also added a textured accent wall, new floors, refreshed stairs and built-in shelves. The result reads as one open space, with light moving from room to room.
